Erave Rugby League to Host Inaugural Finals

The newly established Erave Rugby League (ERL) competition will stage its first-ever finals on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, following the conclusion of the regular season last weekend (September 21st). The Grand Final is scheduled on October 19th.

Recently affiliated with the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) earlier this year, the sanctioned ERL competition is ready to hold its finals in the heart of Erave Station at the old Kamare Oval.

With a sixteen-team (8 A-Grade & 8 B-Grade) participation, the top-3 teams in each division have been selected to appear in the finals. The qualifying teams for both A-Grade and B-Grade are:

●      A Grade - Kawaso Bulldogs, Ambo Roosters, and Station Knights;

●      B Grade - Gateway Titans, Junior Roks, and Puki Raiders.

President Elden Simon said he and his executives look forward to hosting the inaugural finals of Erave Rugby League competition on Saturday, September 28th (today).

“The normal season of ERL ended last weekend and we now look forward to holding the first-ever playoffs today,” Simon said.

“After 14 weeks of intense competition among the A Grade and B Grade teams, we are happy that the finals will be held today.

“With the prize money and trophy up for grabs, my executives and I wish the finalists all the best and encourage them to compete hard, while maintaining sportsmanship.”

With the strong support of ERL Director Emmanuel Eralia, local business man Topa Mata, and others, the new ERL competition is anticipating the finals and hopes to end the season on a positive note.
