The incumbent Chairman of Port Moresby Rugby League (PRL) Dr. James Naipoa was re-elected for another three years during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025.
Dr. Naipao’s chairmanship role at PRL spans eight years. During his reign, he tried his best to lift the standard of the competition and brought in necessary reforms, aiming to elevate the status of the country’s pioneer competition.
The AGM was chaired by Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) Southern Confederate Director Jacob Ivaroa, flanked by PNGRFL Southern Region Development officer Saku Ank, and witnessed by 16 PRL-affiliated club representatives.
Besides the re-election of Dr. Naipao as chairman, the vice president, secretary, and treasurer were also appointed, while the appointment of the independent board members will be made at a later date.
Dr. Naipao said he was humbled by the re-election for three more years and urged everyone to work together, putting their differences aside and producing quality players in the Digicel Cup teams, including the PNG team when it enters the NRL in 2028.
