Desert Storm Kickboxing Club trains for Southern Region Championship

Updated: Apr 29

The Desert Storm Kick-boxing Club (DSKBC), in preparation for the upcoming Southern Region Championships, has begun training on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

Manager and Trainer Alphonse Sumi, stated that the training was intended to prepare the fighters for the Southern Region Kickboxing Championship, which is scheduled on March 2nd, 2024. The venue is yet to be determined.

"We have a calendar that has been drawn up by the PNG Kickboxing Federation, which includes the Regional Championship,” Manager and Trainer Alphonse Sumi said.

He mentioned that they were not able to host a tournament in February as per the initial calendar due to the time factor.

In the meantime, they will be focused on intensifying training and also having in-house sparring sessions to refine the fighters’ skills and techniques before the championship.

DSKBC will be the host for the regional tournament. Currently, the club has more than 70 fighters, most are still on holidays and will join later on.
