The Geehood Vikings and Gerehu 3 Bulls are ready to face off in the KCK Rigo Rice Cup Leg 1 Grand Final of Season 2 on Sunday, 18 January 2026, at Bava Park in Port Moresby.
After six weeks of intense battle between 20 teams in the first leg of the second edition, Gerehu 3 Bulls and Geehood Vikings have survived the elimination playoffs to reach the decider.
The Bulls edged out Mono Mutrus Brothers in a hard-fought preliminary final last weekend, while the Vikings defeated 5MK Master Mark, with the Gerehu sides booking their spots in the grand final.
Leg one has reached its crunch time, which will see the two Gerehu heavyweights fancy their chances to walk away with the coveted title.
Rigo Rice Cup CEO McSteve Polly acknowledged the sponsors, fans, and the teams that took part in the first leg of the second edition.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all the teams, sponsors, families, coaching staff, and team management that have participated in leg 1,” Polly said.
“This Sunday will be a banger, where we will see the Gerehu 3 Bulls play against the Geehood Vikings for the leg 1 grand final.”
In the third-fourth final playoff, the Mono Mutrus Brothers will meet 5MK Master Mark, while the Geehood Vikings go head-to-head with the Gerehu 3 Bulls in the Gerehu local derby grand final showdown.
With an all-Gerehu affair, a bumper crowd is expected to flood Port Moresby's famous Bava Park on Sunday as the Bulls and Vikings lock horns to battle for supremacy.
In addition, the top 3 teams in legs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be selected to compete in the major playoff with a K500,000 grand prize, scheduled for April.
Meanwhile, the Motu-Koitabu and Central teams kicked off the opening round of the second leg last weekend and will head into round 2 this weekend.
