Veteran Kokote to lead Mioks in the decider

Supa Kokote, who is one of the experienced players in the semi-professional competition, will lead

the undefeated Enga Mioks in the 2023 Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup Grand Final, as they take on the determined Bintangor Goroka Lahanis at the renowned Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby tomorrow (September 3rd).

The Mioks and Lahanis last met in the 2018 Digicel Cup Grand Final, where the famous ‘Mud Men’ from the East side pulled off a gutsy 10-6 victory over the highly spirited Mioks to clinch the title. Kokote was part of the premiership-winning team. He was the engine room for the Lahanis that year, especially in the forwards’ department.

Four years later, the script has flipped, which will see veteran Kokote leading the Mioks to face his former team. He was instrumental in Lahanis’ 2018 premiership glory. Kokote and the Lahanis shattered the hearts of the Mioks’ players in 2018 but this time, he wants to mend their broken hearts. He owes the Mioks big time so he will do everything he has within his disposal and try to make amends with the high-flying Engan lads by repaying them with a premiership.

The seasoned campaigner will play a pivotal role in the middle of the pitch, leading the forward pack, setting up the platform upfront, and barking orders to guide the Mioks. The youthful and exuberant Enga Government-sponsored outfit will be banking on Kokote’s wealth of experience to

stake their claim for the title.

Make no mistake, it is not going to be a walk-in-the-park footy for the Mioks. They will have to dig in deep and give their absolute best because the Lahanis will come in full force and test their resolve to crack them open. Nonetheless, Kokote’s vast experience, coupled with the team spirit, faith, determination, and tenacity to compete, a fairytale finish is imminent for the red-hot green and gold army.

As the clock ticks down to the big day, the hearts of both the Mioks’ and Lahanis’ players are pulsating and the pressure to contend for supremacy has already reached the peak of the mountain.

The stakes are higher for both sides and the task at hand is daunting. Whichever team makes fewer errors, disciplines themselves, and sticks to the game plan would stand a chance to walk away with the ultimate prize.

The premier prop in the country will stamp his authority and make his presence known, as he leads the unstoppable Enga Mioks to vie for the coveted title against the resurgent Goroka Lahanis on Sunday. This blockbuster should be a reaper.
