Unitech Crowned the 2023 VC Cup Champions

The Unitech Spartans and Unitech Bulolo Pines of the University of Technology (Unitech) were declared dual winners of the 2023 Vice Chancellors (VC) Cup by Dr Teng Waninga, the major sponsor of the 2023 VC Cup at Goroko last week.

This was the first time the tournament had dual winners. However, the organizing committee of the intervarsity Cup stated that, due to lack of time, as it had gotten past 6:00pm for a grandfinal to take place, the official finals would be held at Unitech to determine the real winner. For now, Unitech claims the premiership as both finalists are from the same university.

The duo were declared winners after winning the semi-finals. The Spartans defeated the PAU Red Ants while the Bulolo Pines defeated the UPNG Pythons in the semis.

The date of the grand final will be announced by the Vice Chancellor of the host, University of Goroka (UOG). According to media on ground Yomba KisimPiksa, the finals will be witnessed by the Minister of HERST and Sports, Hon Don Polye and also the UOG organising committee.
