Trukai Industries Limited has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to sports development in Papua New Guinea with the presentation of K500,000 to the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) today, 16th December 2025, at its headquarters in Gordons, Port Moresby.
The funds were raised through the 2025 Trukai Fun Run, Team PNG’s largest annual fundraising event, for which Trukai has been the principal naming-rights sponsor since 2000.
This year’s fundraising activities included shirt auctions, pop-up sales, and T-shirt sales across ten locations — Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Goroka, Madang, Vanimo, Kimbe, Kokopo, Alotau, and Popondetta. The nationwide Fun Run in June contributed to the sale of almost 40,000 shirts, an increase from 2024. This has set the tone for a bigger and better Fun Run in 2026.
Trukai Industries General Manager for PNG and the Solomon Islands, Andrew Grace, said the company was honored to continue its support for Team PNG.
“This K500,000 contribution reflects our ongoing commitment to empowering our athletes, strengthening communities, and investing in the future of PNG sports,” he said.
“We believe in the spirit, determination, and talent of Team PNG, and we are proud to stand behind them as they carry our flag with pride.
“Trukai has always championed national unity through sport, and today’s presentation reaffirms that legacy.”
Trukai Industries Marketing Manager, Peggy Maha, said the contribution represents an investment in the dreams and potential of Papua New Guinea’s athletes.
“By supporting our athletes, we uplift our communities and inspire the next generation to believe their goals are within reach,” she shared.
The President of the PNG Olympic Committee, Emma Waiwai, thanked Trukai for its continued partnership, as well as everyone who supported the cause by purchasing a Fun Run shirt.
“Trukai’s commitment is unparalleled. Their support through the Fun Run provides a strong financial foundation that enables our athletes to focus entirely on performance,” she said.
Trukai Industries reiterated its dedication to this enduring partnership with the PNGOC as both organizations work together to inspire and unite Papua New Guinea through sporting excellence ahead of the major international events in 2026.
