Tribes Coffee Shop has stepped in to support six basketball players with cash incentives, boosting the athletes to take part in the FIBA Melanesian Cup slated from October 13-18, 2025, in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
A small presentation was held at Tribes Coffee Shop yesterday (9th October) in Downtown Port Moresby, with Apia Muri, Cornelius Muri, Allan Millard, Morea Elavo, Hannah Kuwimb, and Hannah Kalua receiving K1,000 each, including coach Moi Muri, who received K500.
Representing the Tribes Coffee Shop and the owner of the company, Mr. Firman Joseph, Collin Pine and Jonitha Warabe presented the money to the six athletes, congratulating them on making the final cut in the PNG National Basketball teams (men & women) and wishing them well in their campaign.
Speaking on behalf of the players, senior player Apia Muri sincerely thanked Mr. Joseph and Tribes Coffee Shop for their generous support, which has fired up the athletes, who are prepared to put their bodies on the line and represent PNG with pride on foreign soil.
This was not the first time Tribes Coffee Shop has given its support to the athletes. The company is known for backing sporting clubs and athletes from different codes, aiming to motivate the athletes to perform to the best of their abilities.
Mr. Joseph has a reputation for sponsoring various sports across the country, including some of the teams taking part in the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup, like the PRK Mendi Muruks and Kroton Hela Wigmen, to name a few.
With this timely financial assistance from Tribes Coffee Shop, the six players look forward to giving their best in the 2025 FIBA Melanesian Cup, with both men’s and women’s teams scheduled to leave for the Solomon Islands tomorrow (11th October).
