PNG Netball National Squad announced for the 2023 Pacific Games

The PNG Netball Federation has announced the Netball National Squad for the upcoming Pacific Games in Solomon Islands later this year.

The selection process commenced with the Port Moresby based selection trials, which took place on the 1st of July. After an intense two weeks of trials, a total of 26 players have been selected and from this, a final top 15 squad will be announced in September.

Following the Port Moresby trials, the focus shifted to Brisbane, where the trials extended over three days (July 7-9). The extended trials allowed the selectors to assess the players’ consistency and adaptability in different scenarios, both individually and as a team. The level of talent displayed during these trials were truly impressive and reflected the dedication and hard work put in by each athlete.

The President of Netball PNG, Ulato Avei said she was happy and excited about the selection of the Netball National Squad.

“We are immensely proud of the talent and dedication demonstrated by all the athletes who have participated in the trials,” President Avei said.

The 26-women train-on squad will train for the next two months before a final 15-women squad is shortlisted and announced in September.
