The Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) announced its upcoming Club Kickboxing Championship trial scheduled for June 15th, 2025, at Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex in Port Moresby.

The Desert Storm Promotions will be hosting the club championship trial on Sunday, with over 100 fighters from nine kickboxing clubs in NCD confirming their participation in the one-day event.

This event is very crucial for the PNG Kickboxing Federation and the NCD Kickboxing Association, as it is part of the preparations ahead of the PNG Games and international events set for July and September.

The best fighters for this club championship trial will be selected to represent the National Capital District team to participate in the PNG Unity Games slated for September in Mendi this year.

PNG Kickboxing Federation President Stanley Nandex noted that the club championship trial is significant, saying, “This event is very important from the federation’s point of view to select some of the best fighters. A lot of talents will be identified through this championship.”

Mr. Nandex said it is tough to organize such big events without any sponsorship, so he has appealed to the business houses for their support in hosting the kickboxing trial, including upcoming events scheduled by the federation.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed NCD Kickboxing Association President Thomas Kagili and NCD Kickboxing Provincial Coordinator Nelson Samson will also be fighting to prepare themselves for their international bouts in July and September, respectively.

The cream of the crop will take it to the ring on Sunday (June 15) at the Indoor Complex to showcase their skills while hoping to secure a spot in Team NCD for the forthcoming PNG Unity Games.
