The FinCorp University Piggies walked away with the Pepsi Capital Rugby Union (CRU) Men’s A-Grade title after defeating the Supreme Industries Harlequins in the Grand Final with a 35-22 victory on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at Santos National Football Stadium.
Harlequins, who are the Men’s A-Grade reigning champions following their triumph over the Kramer APAC Brothers last year, failed to defend their title as the high-flying Piggies came on a mission and stole the coveted trophy.
The FinCorp-sponsored Piggies had a bad season in all divisions, except the men’s A grade, who did exceptionally well to reach the grand final and made the club proud with a premiership glory against the red-hot Harlies.
In a high-scoring affair, the Piggies were in control of the match with 3 converted tries, while the Harlies produced a solo try and a 3-point penalty goal, trailing the men in blue at 21-8 in the first 40 minutes of the bruising contest.
The floodgates opened in the second half, with the Harlies bagging 2 unanswered tries in 20 minutes and taking the lead (22-21). However, the Piggies kept their cool and hit back with 2 tries in the last 15 minutes of play to shatter the fast-finishing jokers with a 35-22 margin.
Despite performing poorly in other divisions, the FinCorp University Piggies, who are the foundational club in the CRU competition, have something to celebrate and be proud of, snatching the bragging rights in the Men’s A-Grade.
