NCDFA ready to host Grand Final games

Updated: Apr 29

The National Capital District Football Association (NCDFA) is prepared to stage its Grand Final games for every division ranging from U15, U17, U19, U23 and senior teams on Saturday, February 3, at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

After almost seven weeks of running the competition, NCDFA now anticipates to complete its season this weekend just in time for the 2024 academic year to resume.

Top four teams were selected to play in the finals. The two losers in each division have bowed out in the semi-finals last weekend, while the two winners have advanced to the decider. The grand finalists in each division are ready to compete in the big dance.

NCDFA President and Hekari United FC General Manger, Vonnie Kapi Natto, said she and her executives looked forward to ending the season, despite the civil unrest that disrupted the games.

“The competition ran perfectly until the crises that happened in the city a few weeks ago and State of Emergency have held us back,” President Natto said.

“I think it feared us a little bit, so our executives decided to end the season early. We went past our first round and SoE was imposed for two weeks.

“We felt that we could no longer prolong the games, so we agreed to hold the finals and complete the season.

“We are so thankful that it happened when everything settled down, so we’ve completed our semi-finals last weekend (Saturday & Sunday) and now we are preparing for our grand final this Saturday, February 3rd.”
