NCDFA concludes competition on a positive note

Updated: Apr 29

The National Capital District Football Association (NCDFA) successfully completed its 2023 season on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at the PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

The competition began in early December of 2023 and ran throughout January 2024, concluding over the weekend.

A total of 87 teams from each division (U15, U17, U19, U23, and A-Grade) participated in the six-week competition. The number of teams would have exceeded 100, but the U12 teams did not take part.

The top four teams in each division mentioned above were selected to play in the finals. The champions and runners-up in each division received a trophy and prize money, while the third and fourth-placed teams received consolation prizes.

The civil unrest on January 10th and the subsequent imposition of the State of Emergency (SoE) affected the competition for two weeks.

Despite the disruption, the executives of NCDFA, led by President Vonnie Kapi Natto, proceeded with the season and successfully hosted the finals, completing the season just in time for the resumption of the 2024 academic year.

Although the season was cut short, President Natto was pleased with the outcome. She expressed her gratitude and praised her executives, PNGFA, the players, sponsors, and the fans for their contribution to the successful 2023 NCDFA competition.

Meanwhile, the 2024 NCDFA season will resume in March, as announced by President Vonnie Kapi Natto and her executives.
