Muruks made a late comeback and stunned Gurias

The PRK Mendi Muruks have come from behind and pulled off a gutsy 22-12 victory over the Agmark Rabaul Gurias at the Santos National Football Stadium over the weekend (July 22nd, 2023).

The arm wrestle, intensity and physicality of the game were on full display in the first opening 20 minutes. Muruks were given a penalty in Gurias 20-meter red zone and they decided to take a 2-point conversion, but the kicker failed to nail the conversion.

In the remaining 15 minutes of the first half, Gurias got a penalty on Muruks 10-meter red zone. They opted for a 2-point conversion and the kicker successfully nailed the extras.

After a couple of minutes later, Gurias capitalized on Muruks error and scored their first try. The conversion kicker successfully slotted the conversion, leaving the scoreline 8-0.

Right on the stroke of half time, Gurias got a penalty just outside of Muruks 10-meter line. They took a 2-point conversion and the kicker successfully added the extras and gave his side a handy 10-0 lead over the Muruks at half-time.

The 10-0 half time score did not trouble Muruks. They went into the sheds, talked things over, regrouped and went back to the pitch with all guns blazing. With the momentum on their side, they scored 4 unanswered tries and stunned Gurias in the second half, leaving the full-time scores 22-12.
