Keleiruna defeated Amalabak with a strong 3-1 win in the division 1 encounter of the Port Moresby Soccer Association (PMSA) competition round 9 match on Saturday, June 29th, 2024, at Bisini Ground in Port Moresby.
The Keapara club in the Wood Lagoon area of Rigo District were dominant against the Amalabak in the first half, leading 3-0 at the break.
However, in the second half, Keleiruna struggled to maintain their momentum. Amalabak turned their screws on and scored a solo goal to reduce the deficit by 2 points.
Although Keleiruna did not perform well in the second half, coach Murray Guma was happy that his boys held off the fast-finishing Amalabak to bag the two crucial points.
“They played very well in all departments, especially in the first half. The second half wasn’t really pleasing, but I’m happy that they’ve come home,” Guma said.
Keleiruna sit third on the ladder in the division 1 competition with 14 points and are looking forward to extending their winning streak in the coming rounds.
