Jeffery Daka has stolen the limelight in the 78kg division following his victory over Italy’s Ettore Scolaro in the inaugural World Kickboxing event hosted at the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex in Port Moresby on Saturday, September 13th, 2025.
After a five-year break, Daka made his return to kickboxing in the National Championship this year and defeated Nelson Samson to qualify for the world event.
The Simbu man came prepared and knocked out his Italian opponent in round 3 to claim his first continental belt.
Daka was overwhelmed with mixed emotions, saying: “I’ve been waiting for so long to win this title. It’s my first world title and I’m very excited. I prepared well and had confidence in myself that I would win, and I did.”
He has dedicated the win to his family and friends, who have been very supportive and stood beside him throughout his career. His family has been his number one support and inspiration to chase his dreams.
The Kundiawa man acknowledged the PNG Kickboxing Federation President Stanley Nandex and the sponsors, including the fans, for hosting the world event in PNG and creating a platform for the local fighters to display their talent.
An incredible kickboxing career spanning 28 fights, Daka won 25 bouts (9 knockouts) and tasted 3 losses, continuing to build his profile.
Daka said he would get back to training to work on his craft and prepare himself for upcoming kickboxing bouts in PNG and overseas, aspiring to win more fights.
