The International Training Institute (ITI) held its annual Founder’s Day to commemorate the 20th Death Anniversary of the founder and also celebrate PNG’s 50th Independence Anniversary yesterday (12th September 2025) at Taurama Aquatic Indoor Center in Port Moresby.
ITI was established 26 years ago (1999) in PNG by co-founder Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval and his late father. In honoring the life of Mr. Sentheyval’s father, ITI usually hosts the Founder’s Day every year to celebrate his legacy.
Over 500 ITI students were categorized into different pools to participate in various sports like basketball, volleyball, including cultural dances and talent shows. A small presentation was held in the afternoon to award the students with small gifts and cash prizes.
ITI co-founder Mr. Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said the founder’s day was significant because it coincided with PNG’s Golden Jubilee, and thanked his staff and the students for making the annual event a memorable one.
“We have the founder’s day every year to commemorate my father’s death. ITI was started by my father and me 26 years ago. My father passed away 20 years back, so since his passing, we have been hosting this event in remembrance of him,” Mr. Sentheyval stated.
“This year has been special because of my father’s 20th death anniversary and PNG’s 50th anniversary, so we had a combined celebration to honor these two special events. It’s been a wonderful experience for everyone.”
