Hekari United fall Short to Auckland City

Updated: May 20, 2024

Hekari United FC had lost to Auckland City with a 1-0 full-time in their second match at the OFC men’s Champions league in Tahiti yesterday (15th May).

Hekari FC had put up a good fight and with their last against the Solomon Islands, they had been a force to be reckoned with. Auckland FC had scored a goal in the dying seconds-of the second half to claim victory.

Hekari United head Coach, David Muta, has expressed that his team performed well but slacked off in the dying minutes, costing them their game.

“Our team has to play with high discipline and high concentration in the full 90 minutes. The boys fell a little bit short in the final minutes and that had cost us our game.” Said David Muta

With that loss, the Hekari United will have to beat Rewa FC in their final Group game to qualify for the semi-finals.

Hekari Coach said his team would only work on improving their pace and giving a hundred percent concentration in their next game.

“We have to work on tidying up a few things especially our attacking and defending pace of the game. We have work on improving when we win the ball, when we have the ball, what’s next in attacking, we have to improve on attacking.”  Muta concluded.
