Hekari bounced back into the winner’s circle with a dominant performance

After a disappointing loss last weekend, the Hekari United FC regrouped and went firing on all cylinders by smashing Gulf Komara FC 4-0 in the round 2 of the Premier Soccer League at PNG Football Stadium over the weekend (July 8th, 2023).

The first 30 minutes of the contest saw Hekari and Komara going up against each other. Goal scoring opportunities were created for both sides, but no team managed to find the net. However, Hekari got a free penalty-kick in the remaining 10 minutes of the game. Yagi Yasasa slotted the penalty-kick and gave his side a 1-0 lead over Komara at half-time.

Hekari maintained the ascendency and momentum in the second half by scoring 3 more unanswered goals to seal off the deal. Even though Komara made a couple of attempts to fight their way back into the contest, their delivery was poor.

The red army have registered their first win of the season, while the Gulf sponsored-franchise have tasted their first loss.

The head coach of Hekari, David Muta was pleased with his team’s dominant performance. He praised the boys for their outstanding performance.

“It was unfortunate for us not to win last weekend’s game, but I am happy that we have bounced back with a strong performance. I give credit to the boys. We did our part in the training and the boys executed well today,” coach Muta said.

Hekari will take on Madang FC next weekend.
