The Member for Goroka District, the Honorable Aiye Tambua, has presented K25,000.00 to support the operations of the Eastern Highlands Schools Rugby Football League today (27 June 2026).
While handing over the funding, Hon. Tambua said the Goroka District Administration had also supported other sporting codes in the district, including soccer, basketball, and boxing.
“Goroka District has also supported the Lahanis men, Lahanis women, and Lahanis juniors, and this time, we have come to support the school boys’ competition,” Tambua said.
“Use this fund wisely and acquit it properly. When you do so, you will receive more funding.”
He added that next year onwards, Goroka will start to see the development of a new stadium that will be unlike those in main centres like Lae and Port Moresby.
“It will be one of the best stadiums not only in Goroka but also in the Highlands region,” Mr. Tambua said.
Hon. Tambua was accompanied by former Kumul coach and legend Stanley Gene, who was present to witness the presentation at the National Sports Institute (NSI).
