Brothers edged out Defence to book Grand Final berth

The Pepsi Capital Rugby Union Men’s Premier Division Semi-Final saw the undefeated Kramer Ausenco Brothers edging out the Defence with a 23-17 victory in the blockbuster showdown at Bava Park in Port Moresby on Saturday, 5th August, 2023.

The match went down to the wire, as both teams rose to the occasion and delivered a highly

entertaining game. The much-anticipated match lived up to the hype and expectations of the fans.

Having an undefeated run this season, the Brothers were the clear favorites to win the game, but Defence held their resolve and gave the men in black a run for their money.

Under the mentorship and coaching of former PNG Pukpuk full-back Joe Kautu, the Brothers have a stacked side to stake their claim for premiership glory.

The team of the season has a deep history, as a pioneer club in the city. Brothers have set the

benchmark in the Capital Rugby Union for over a decade. They have been a force to be reckoned with.

Brothers’ reputation has been cemented through their five pillars - hard work, discipline, commitment, loyalty and perseverance.

Meanwhile, in the first Minor Semi-Final game, Harlequins defeated University Piggies with an 18-10 score-line. It was a close match, which was similar to the game between Brothers and Defence. Both games were edge-of-the-seat stuff.

Harlequins will meet Defence in the do-or-die Preliminary Final this weekend (August 12th). The winner will advance to meet Brothers in the Grand Final on August 19th at Santos National Football Stadium.
