The Theodist PNG National Swimming Championships will be held this weekend at Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre (TAIC). A total of 87 athletes have registered to take part in the competition. All of the swimmers are from Boroko Amateur Swimming Club. There are 47 events that the swimmers will take part in. The events that will be swam are 25m, 50m, 100m, 200m in all strokes, 200m and 400m Individual medleys and 4 x50m relays. For freestyle, there will also be 400m, 800m and 1500m events. This competition is an important event in the PNG Swimming Calendar. A teamfor the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka and the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad & Tobago will be selected after this competition. The Championship will happen over a 2 day period. Session 1 and 2 will be on Saturday, 29th of April at 8:30am and 4:00pm respectively. While, session 3 will start at 8:30am on Sunday the 30th of April 2023. The public is welcome to come and spectate. TAIC will charge a gate fee of K5 for non-members.
