Kaipu made her presence felt in the OFC Women’s Champions League

The Hekari United Football Club’s seasoned-campaigner and captain courageous, Marie Kaipu has been a dominant force in the recently concluded Inaugural Oceania Football Confederation Women’s Champions League, which was held at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Port Moresby
from June 1 st – 10 th , 2023.
Kaipu has stamped her authority in the ten-day tournament. The experienced player managed to score 9 goals and assisted a couple of goals during the tournament.
She was instrumental and influential in Hekari’s three victories. The mother of two finished the tourney on a positive note by winning the Player of the Tournament and bagging the Golden Boot Award.
The soft-spoken Gulf woman said she is humbled and happy to receive the two awards. She commended and praised her teammates’ resolve and tenacity to compete.
“I am happy for my teammates. We played and competed well together. As a result of strong team effort, I was able to receive the two awards. Though we did not win the title, I am proud that we were able to end the tournament on a high note and finished as runners-up,” Kaipu stated.
Meanwhile, the 2023 National Soccer League for women’s competition will start next weekend. As the Reigning Champions of NSL, Hekari will be banking on Kaipu’s wealth of experience to fare well in the competition this season and defend their title.
